UC Santa Cruz
Hi, my name is Pavan and I am originally from the Bay Area in California. I grew up in San Jose and finished my undergrad at University of California, Santa Cruz with a BS in Biology and a minor in Bioinformatics. After graduating, I left Northern California for San Diego to look for a job in warmer weather. Here, I worked at Salk Institute as a lab technician for six months studying aggression in fruit flies (D. melanogaster) by training a machine-learning program to identify specific behaviors in an enormous dataset. After my contract at Salk, I worked for almost two years as a research associate at Tioga Research, a pre-clinical contract research organization (CRO) dealing specifically in drug delivery systems through the skin or other membranes. My interests outside of research include surfing, lifting weights, reading and traveling.
