April 2018 - MCSB PhD student, Alvaro Fletcher, has received Honorable Mention for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). 

Alvaro is conducting research on ‘Dose-Response Relationships and Absolute Robustness in Biochemical Networks‘ with Dr. German Enciso in the Department of Mathematics and is currently an appointee to the NIH-T32-EB009418 training grant.

07/31/17 - Lara won an award for best poster in the session "Why Disorder Matters" at the 19th IUPAB (International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics) Congress and 11th EBSA (European Biophysical Societies' Association) Congress, which took place from July 16-20th, 2017 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Edinburgh, UK. Her poster was entitled,  "Intrinsically disordered signaling proteins can exhibit emergent cooperativity, sequential binding." The conference had over 1100 posters and she is one of 35 winners!

Congratulations to our National Science Foundation Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide 2016 Awardees.

Our awardees are Andrew Schaub, (4th year Chemistry student in Sheryl Tsai's Lab) and Jaleal Sanjak. (4th year Ecology and Evolutionary Biology student in Kevin Thornton's Lab)

Andrew will be hosted by Professor Ikuro Abe, Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo, Japan. His project title is: International Collaborative Research Exploring Natural Product Biosynthesis Through Molecular Dynamics and Crystallographic Studies.

Jaleal will be hosted by Professor Peter M. Visscher, FAA at the University of Queensland, Australia, in the Center for Neurogenetics and Statistical Genomics. His project title is: Evolutionary analysis of stabilizing selection on complex traits in humans via association mapping and model based inference with the UK BioBank dataset. 

Congratulations to our National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program applicants. Graduate students associated with the MCSB program had a very successful year: three students received NSF GRFP awards, and three more received honorable mentions !
